I've wanted to since I was way too young to be able to, but it's waaaaay the hell in California and I sooooo can't afford that kind of trip. I hear mixed reviews from various people, which is just another reason I'd like to see it for myself one year.

yeah i don't really draw yaoi but i don't mind it (probably a result of looking at too many fanart), so i was interested. i'm also wary of the cons far off ^^ wanna go to anime expo and comic con but doubt i could even get a table.

I'm hoping to go in 2008. A lot of my friends who are artists attend, plus it's in San Francisco, and any excuse to visit there is YES.
Their artist alley sells out very quickly, though, and this year they didn't get registration info out very efficiently.
ETA: I'm also intrigued by the prospect of an 18+ only convention. I wonder if it cuts down on the stampeding and screeching?

hmmm, while having a 18+ rule, it seems that there will be a lot of scary yaoi fans... i've never seen any pictures though...

I haven't been, but a couple I know has.
18+ cuts down on the wacky minors, HOWEVER. According to my friends, the lack of personal hygiene at yaoi con -- which is a majority of women -- is 10x worse than any normal anime con they've ever been to. Supposedly the older women there are rude as hell, not to mention the smelly part. (And I'm sure all of us know that a smelly yaoi fangirl can out-smell a fanboy any day.)

Oh, I forgot about that - most of the yaoi fans I've met recently are pretty well-behaved folks in their 20s and 30s, but yeah, I've had a run-in or two with Entitlement Moms. Scary.
I wonder if there's a way to gauge this? I imagine if you stay in the AA and around other working artists (as opposed to, say, an instructional panel on buttsex), things aren't so bad, but still.

I would assume that the problem areas are the video rooms, which should probably be avoided on general principle.

California is no good for me. As the time of this convention is around
Halloween and I there are no holiday's at that time.  I'm okay
with yaoi I just have nothing to sell on the subject. I make plushies,
necklaces, hats, and buttons. No yaoi fun here.

Not at Yaoi Con. Yaoi Con is full of juvenile shrieking fangirls.

Not at Yaoi Con. Yaoi Con is full of juvenile shrieking fangirls.
hm...maybe if it was a NORMAL convention, but still had the age limit, that would be badass.

By the by, my sales last year at yaoi con were some of the worst they had ever been, at any convention... it was just SLOW. Like, hardly anyone walked by... my table partner did really badly too, and she has beautiful artwork (she sold out the year before!) :X
Anyway, considering how bad it was last yearI was surprised its old out so quickly this year! XD I didn't even manage to get a table, lol. I bet that like, 80% of the people who did get tables didn't go last year though and so have no idea how bad it can get...? :B Well, maybe sales will be better this year, in which case... too bad for me :B My luck are worstest
